Key Xchange began as an iBuy concept focused on contactless home acquisitions via the internet, which required identity and website design.
Midway through development the company broadened its scope to become a full service brokerage, doubling the project's size with the addition of several pages and expanded functionality.
The focus of the heroes on almost every page of the site was to get users to sell their homes directly to the brokerage through an online questionnaire, which gathered information about potential sellers and their homes. This process auto-generated an email response before being vetted by the staff to determine an appropriate offer price.
These "Get Offer" fields funneled users directly into a wizard full of questions pertaining to their properties, to help the brokerage estimate prices without having seen the houses in person.
The homepage was simply designed to use basic cards detailing the contents of pages on the site, inner linking to them. Each page was comprised of information about all the ways a user could benefit from selling their home using the brokerage, in addition to being a springboard into the wizard. Sections of video content were interspersed on each page, featuring the brokerage's agents speaking about their interests and experiences with real estate.
When the plan for the site grew, it needed to incorporate MLS (multiple listing service) functionality. To begin with, the page for users interested in buying property was designed with a navigable map connected to the listing database. The design utilized location pins with pop-ups of key home information across the map, with a grid of more detailed cards scrollable at right.
With a search involving so many results, a wide array of filter categories was needed. Space limitations necessitated the "More" filter to hide multiple parameters, scrollable within its pop-up menu. Various other interactions exist to the right of the map as well: the ability for users to save their searches and "like" specific properties, which aided the brokerage's ability to gather user data and more effectively target in their marketing.
